Erik lives with Autism. With guidance, he has found a true gift in his talent with the scroll saw. The special talent provides an outlet for his energy and a way to help him cope. The environment created by his talent allows him a way to provide for his own future. Erik’s ability to express himself with words is extremely limited, but his creations bring joy to many people.

Erik is a 48 year old man that lives with severe autism and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
He is considered non-verbal.
Erik uses a scroll saw to create beautiful art with wood.
Some of his most popular items are The Praying Jesus and Crown of Thorns.
He has been featured in several scroll saw and autism magazines.
In summer 2018 he was filmed in action for the documentary Fierce, Love, Art.
Erik is able to release built up energy and compulsions by scroll sawing.
He is able to manage the saw with very little assistance from his loved ones.
He lives in northwest Kansas. Since 2016 he has lived with the Arias family and quickly became very special to everyone. The kids call him "Uncle Erik".
